A Captive Audience - PJ Butler of HMP Bedford's visit

PJ and Marion

Tea & Chat was delighted to welcome PJ Butler, Governor of HMP Bedford. PJ, originally from Fermoy Co Cork, spoke about his varied career, serving in the Irish Army as part of the UN Interim Peacekeeping Force in The Lebanon before joining the Prison Service and rising to the position of Governor. PJ outlined some of the innovative projects, partnering with industry, at HMP Bedford to deal with re-offending. There was a lively Q&A and everyone at Tea & Chat was literally a 'captive audience.'

Warm welcome at Tea and Chat

PJ's visit followed partnership work with HMP Bedford where inmates produced murals celebrating their culture. They were supported by artist Keith Whitwell who runs LIF's highly successful and creative Art Class.
